Mary Cox is a sculptor specialising in Bronze and Bronze Resin Garden Sculptures, Limited Edition Bronzes and Portrait Heads.
This is a life-size (6ft-tall) statue of a bomb disposal expert in bronze in honour of 36 Engineer Regiment. The soldier is in full desert combats returning from a search mission. He carries his rifle and his IED (Improvised Explosive Device) detector vallon.
The tribute was commissioned to celebrate the valor of those who risk their lives in Afghanistan.
Maidstone is home to the Regiment which is based at Invicta Park Barracks.
